Inconel 601 - Oxidation-Resistant Nickel-Chromium Alloy

2023-04-07 01:25:03  News

inconel 601 is an oxidation-resistant nickel-chromium alloy that can withstand elevated temperatures. Its high strength and aqueous corrosion resistance make it ideal for a variety of applications.

Commonly used in a broad range of thermal processing, chemical and pollution control equipment, it also is a popular choice for power generation and nuclear reactors. It offers a wide range of heat treatment processes, such as carburizing and nitriding.

It resists oxidation from the atmosphere, halogenated gases and most organic acids and inorganic acids. It is nonmagnetic, has excellent hot and cold workability and is easily shaped and welded.

The high nickel content in this alloy makes it resistant to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking and pitting and crevice corrosion. Its chromium content provides resistance to oxidizing chemicals and its molybdenum and niobium contents provide resistance to nonoxidizing environments.

This high temperature oxidation-resistant alloy can be supplied in wire, bar, sheet/plate, pipe, fittings, flanges and forgings. Request a quote from Magellan Metals.

It is suitable for a wide variety of severe corrosive environments including atmospheric, fresh and sea water, alkaline salts and neutral salts. It is also resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, and niobium stabilizes the alloy against sensitization during welding. It is also free from chloride ion stress corrosion cracking in thermal cycling and shock operations. The corrosion resistance is enhanced by the addition of aluminum to the nickel-chromium-iron base, which gives this alloy excellent oxidation resistance.
