copper zinc nickel alloy is a copper-nickel-zinc alloy which has good corrosion resistance. It is used primarily for drawn, spun and similar cold-worked parts. It also has good tensile strength, toughness and fatigue properties.
It is a good choice for electrical, optical and electronic applications due to its high conductivity and good corrosion resistance. In addition, copper-zinc nickel is a nonmagnetic material, although it contains some iron (0% to 0.5%) which does not influence its magnetic properties significantly.
Halide-free ionic liquids (ILs) have gained attention as electrolytes for the electrodeposition of Zn and Zn-Ni alloys, because they avoid environmental toxicity owing to the formation of chlorinated compounds during deposition. However, the regulating mechanisms of these ILs need further investigation in terms of their ionic transport, speciation and interfacial structure.
Furthermore, it has been reported that the addition of additives such as boric acid and sodium bromide can improve the quality of Zn-Ni deposits deposited from ChCl/2EG-based ILs. Specifically, these additives act as brightening agents by complexing metal ions and decreasing their reduction potential. They also have adsorption properties on the surface of the deposit, resulting in smoother and brighter deposits.
